YMCAs across Virginia exist to strengthen their communities and every day we work with thousands of men, women, and children to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Each year:
- 1,000,000 Virginians are served by the Y
- Over 190,000 children's lives are enriched through youth programs
- Over $19,500,000 is distributed through program and membership financial assistance
- More than 28,000 volunteers are engaged.
We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. The Y is the largest provider of child care in the Commonwealth, offering families affordable, high-quality care through preschool, after-school and camp programs. Scholarships, subsidies and outreach provide critical assistance to low-income families, ensuring all children are able to participate in Y programs.
